Developing Motivation Easily – Put The Donut Down!
Posted on 19. Mar, 2010 by kathleen in NLP, Weight Loss/Reduction
This blog provides you with the means to discover ways to strengthen your confidence and unleash your motivation to reduce your weight. That’s right lose weight!
After dropping to my lowest weight in the last 13 years my mischievous inner child, Geraldine, made me eat a jelly donut and some fudge yesterday. Stop that Geraldine! She whispered to me, “We can get away with it since we are so slim now”. Guess I’ll be hitting the walking trail today to counteract the results. Do you have a rascally little inner child who rationalizes that you’ve trimmed some weight so it is OK to go in the wrong direction – to step off of the right path in the wrong direction? I believe that is what causes me to yo yo with strange loops of up and down weight before dropping down to the next level. I’ve found I need to strengthen my motivation to step out of the loop in the right direction.
There is only one way to reduce your weight. That is to reduce the number of calories that you consume and increase your activity. There is no way around this truth. It is reality. This must happen to lose weight. The question is not only how can you motivate yourself but also your inner child to do this and continue to maintain it over time?
Intention setting is valuable as outlined in one of my previous blog posts. Additionally, considering weight reduction from the Identity or Spiritual Logical Level – as outlined on my website that has my name (see tab as the top of the page) – is helpful. These are ways to strengthen motivation so that Geraldine will be cooperative for now – not the rascally little saboteur of yesterday. Do you hear that Geraldine? Today is our “Cooperation Day”. We are increasing fiber, exercising and eating healthy. “UT OH”, she’s gone to sleep to ignore me. I hope my goals for today are going into her unconscious mind – lol.

Hi Kathleen. Nice story. I battle with this too. Not sure about the inner child thing, but there is definitely a part of me that seems to want to splurge – celebrate your successes – and another who feels easily exposed and wants to eat to “cover up”. Understanding their needs has helped. Friday night is splurge night and, as for the other, well.. we talk.

Hi Jane, Thanks for your note. I call Geraldine my inner child simply as a vehicle for her message. She is a frustrating imp and a saboteur for sure.

What a good idea, naming your inner child! It is an imp and saboteur! What a concept. I had never thought of it before.
